Deb Gugel is a Senior Physician Recruiter at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health, leading leadership and specialty care searches across Medicine, with prior experience in Surgery and Anesthesiology. She began her career in marketing, working at top advertising agencies and running her own firm for clients such as Delta Airlines, Macy’s, and General Mills. Today, she applies that expertise to academic medicine, using marketing strategies to identify and engage top physician talent. Deb has presented nationally and regionally on physician recruiting, marketing, mitigating bias in the recruitment process, and process improvement. Deb was named “Advertising Agency Owner of the Year”, in back-to back wins by American Women in Radio and TV, was awarded the John Sopsick “Lead the Charge” award by UW Surgery, and the “Chair of Medicine Commendation Award”, just to name a few.
